I didn't like the character of Monkey, too arragant and voilent and sadistic. Well I didn't like it the first time I read it anyway, about halfway through it again, and perfer like it more for some reason. The whole story is sometimes called "Monkey King" too, because Monkey was obviously the dominant character (rock on, Monkey!). Also, depending on what version of the story you're viewing/reading, Monkey King has different names too, ranging from "Sun Wu-k'ung" to "Son Gokou." For a while, I think he was even called "Pilgrim." But then again, I'm not really an expert.
