For those of you who don't know Foiled Productions - we're a bunch of people who've been making low-budget films for several years now. In the past, we've made a feature film ("Foiled"), and numerous short films - including 2 fan films (a Star Wars one and a Buffy one): 1) The Jedi Who Loved Me http://www.foiled.co.uk/tjwlm/ 2) Fluffy The English Vampire Slayer http://www.fluffytheslayer.com/ By going to the above web sites, you can read all about the films, and you can download the films and watch them on your PC. Anyway, back to the Monkey fan film - here's some initial thoughts we've bounced around: 1) To keep it manageable, it would be a short film - probably no more than 15 minutes maximum 2) Should we do a parody episode, or make an episode from the original stories that hasn't already been made? - - I'm tempted to go with the first optionn, i.e. write a brand new story that pays homage to the series - and emphasises common themes that appear throughout the series. 3) We'd obviously need people to play the characters - we would probably hold auditions (as we did for "Fluffy" last year). So if any of you, or anyone you know, would make a good Monkey / Pigsy / Sandy / Tripitaka / demon, let me know! 4) We'd need a white horse - I guess there's agencies out there that we can hire a horse from!? 5) In terms of locations, we'd need lots of mountains / countryside for the characters to walk through, and our initial idea was to set it in North Wales. Any other ideas are welcome, of course. 6) We would not want to use any copyrighted music from the original series - so we'd be looking for someone to help write music for the film in the spirit of Monkey - i.e. opening / closing music, fight music etc. Please note - there's no definite commitment to making this film - it's just an idea we talked through a few days ago. The first thing we need to do is come up with a good script - any ideas / comments would be very welcome. Also, if anyone else is interested in helping out in any way, let me know. Note that the film would be made in the UK.
