To play them, your DVD player must be capable of playing region 2 DVDs and you must be able to view PAL. Either you need to be in a region 2 area (so your DVD player will automatically play region 2 DVDs), or you need to have a multi-region DVD player. For help on DVD regions, please see either: http://www.blackstar.co.uk/help/help_dvd_regions or: http://www.laserrot.com/info/lrinfo/dvdmap.html 4) All episodes have been digitally enhanced to reduce the noise on the video. This takes out large imperfections. This is not the same as remastering - remastering involves recolouring / touching up every frame of the original film negatives. Since there's 39 hours of Monkey episodes in total, the remastering process would cost millions and therefore was not an option. In short, they've used the ultimate enhancement process within their budget. 5) They're DVD9s, which makes the quality look even better. 6) Each DVD will cost £19.99 - which is great value, when you think about the huge costs involved in securing the 13 undubbed episodes, translating and subtitling them... plus you get digitally-enhanced episodes, and other great extras too, including photo galleries, biographies etc. These DVDs are going to be every Monkey fan's dream come true! Also, I've seen the first 2 unseen episodes, subtitled into English - and I must say they've done a great job with the translation and subtitling. I've written the episode synopses for these 2 episodes (and chosen the English names for them) that'll appear on the DVD packaging - here's a preview for you: Monkey unseen episode 1: You Win Some, You Lose Some - ------------------------------------------------ A powerful man called Shotenki and his demon master, Kokufki, lure all the men from surrounding villages to their casino in Ittakudo, where they spend all their time gambling. Tripitaka offers to help the desperate wives and children of one village, and sends Pigsy and Sandy to bring the men back to their senses. When their attempt fails, Sandy asks Monkey for assistance in finishing off Shotenki for good. Monkey unseen episode 2: Pigsy Learns A Lesson - ------------------------------------------------ The Fraction Demon goes around asking children questions about fractions, and kidnaps those who answer correctly. The pilgrims arrive at a small village and get mistaken for Fraction Demons by the vengeful locals. After a very close shave, Monkey gets a bit hot under the collar. Pigsy volunteers to track down the dazzlingly beautiful Fraction Demon and sort her out - but will he get otherwise distracted? - -- I've also seen screenshots of various pages on the DVDs, and once again, it looks like they're putting a great deal of effort into these - you won't be disappointed! :) Howell PS There's another article about the DVD release on this page: http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=2&articleId=3707 _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com - --------------------------------------------------------------------- + List guidelines: http://www.monkeyheaven.com/guidelines.html + List archives: http://archive.monkeyheaven.com/ User name: greatsage Password: masaaki + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? When I was running low on webspace, I put it on this site instead: http://members.fortunecity.com/irrepressiblemonkey/ However, they've now changed their policy, and deleted all Mpeg files from all the FortuneCity web sites. I didn't keep a copy of this Mpeg file... Does anyone on the list have a copy of this Mpeg that they downloaded from one of these 2 sites? Filename: intro_jp.mpg Size: 2.1MB If anyone has a copy of it, please could you send me an email direct at: parryh@hotmail.com Many thanks, Howell _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com - --------------------------------------------------------------------- + List guidelines: http://www.monkeyheaven.com/guidelines.html + List archives: http://archive.monkeyheaven.com/ User name: greatsage Password: masaaki + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? I've received this additional info from a researcher for the show: "The clip is used in a round called 'Out of Time' where the contestants watch 3 clips from past TV shows and we ask which shows were big in '79 and which one isn't from that year at all. They get it right if they guess which isn't from the year. I haven't seen the script but I have been told that Zoe does a gag about Monkey (in a nice way!) after it has been shown. The clip is less than a minute long, as this is all we are allowed to show, but we loved watched the show it was great. We're showing a classic fight."
