Hi Folks,

   Well it's been a few weeks since I requested information about finding
the Monkey DVD's in Perth.AU. (Thanks to all who responded) The good news is
my friend returned yesterday with disks 1-5 :-).

   Now the bad news. The Monkey FAQ maintains that it should be possible to
play these R4 encoded disks on a computer DVD-CDROM drive, unfortunately
this is no longer correct. All new DVD-CDROM drives are now region crippled
and therefore will not play DVD's from another region. There is a work
around if you're lucky enough to have a drive from a manufacturer with a
specific rom revision on this list (and are willing to take the risks):

Unfortunately I'm not one of those lucky ones :-(. Now for those of you not
in R4 and manage to get a hold of the DVD version of Monkey, there is a
solution.

A company called DVDCity at http://www.dvdcity.com have got an all-in-one
solution. They are offering modified DVD players that are not only region
independant, but also convert PAL to NTSC and vica verse, for $199us see:

Just thought I'd pass this information on and hopefully help someone else
from suffering the disappointment I had this morning.
