I've just received a copy of the US Monkey mini-series "The Monkey King" / "The Lost Empire". I've not yet watched it, but as you've probably read, most Monkey fans who've seen it don't rate it very highly at all. Regardless of this, are there any Monkey fans in either: Australia, New Zealand or the UK who'd like a copy of this mini-series? If you're interested in a copy, drop me an email at: parryh@hotmail.com Howell _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. - --------------------------------------------------------------- + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? Hopefully, at some point in 2001, Fabulous Films will begin releasing Monkey on DVD (at the moment, they only have the rights to release the first DVD, but if it sells well, I'm sure more will follow). Obviously, these DVDs could contain lots of cool extras that will make them all the more collectable. Does anyone have any ideas for extras they'd like to see on the UK Monkey DVDs? If you have any ideas for gimmicks or promotional items to accompany the DVDs, tell us your ideas too. (for example, with the videos, a limited number of each video contained a Monkey postcard) Let us know your ideas, and I'll pass them all on to Fabulous Films - so your ideas may very well become reality! :> Howell _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. - --------------------------------------------------------------- + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? I'm keeping one copy of each for my collection, but I thought I'd offer the remaining 4 to Monkey fans on the mailing list. Rather than give all 4 to one person, I'd like to give each one to a different person. If anyone on the list would like 1 of these postcards, please send an email with the subject "Monkey Postcard Competition" to me at: parryh@hotmail.com In your message, please tell me: 1) Which actor played Sandy? 2) Your full name and address I'll pick the 4 winners at 6pm on Thursday 12 April 2001. Here's a list of guidelines for posting to the Monkey mailing list. 1) Messages must be sent in plain text only. Any messages that are in MIME and/or contain HTML will bounce back from the mailing list. - - The main reason for this restriction is because of the Monkey Digest mailing list - if HTML / MIME messages were permitted, the digest would show these as quoted MIME / HTML directives, and this would make the digest unreadable, and this would annoy the digest subscribers considerably. 2) Messages may not contain attachments. Instead of emailing attachments, please upload the file(s) to a web site, and send the URL(s) to the mailing list instead - - People reading their email from home / via a slow modem connection may not want to spend lots of time downloading attachments that they may not even be interested in. By posting the URL(s) of the files instead, it gives people the choice as to whether to spend the time downloading the file(s). 3) Before posting a reply to a Monkey mailing list message, please ensure that you edit out all the headers / footers and _unnecessary_ content from the message that you're replying to. Most important - don't just hit reply, type a single line at the top of the message and hit Send. - - No-one wants to keep reading the same quoted message repeatedly, particular those people who receive the Monkey Digest emails. In many cases, it's even appropriate to delete the _whole_ of the message that you're replying to - and just send the text of your reply. The subject will indicate which message you're replying to, and very often this is enough. - - No-one wants to read a message that's full of header lines from a previous message. - - This is particularly important for Monkey Digest subscribers - it's not good 'netiquette' to include a copy of the whole previous Monkey Digest when you reply to a message within it. This would result in everyone receiving all of that day's messages again, and it would clog up everyone's mailboxes. 4) Monkey Digest subscribers: When posting a reply to a message in a Monkey Digest email, when you hit Reply, you should not send a message with the title "Re: Monkey Digest V1 #xxx". This is meaningless to the non-digest mailing list members. - - Instead, please replace the subject with "Re: " + the subject of the individual email message that you're replying to from within the digest. 5) Off-topic messages: If you're posting a message to the mailing list which you think will be of _interest_ to many of the Monkey mailing list members, please go ahead, but make sure you make the subject of your message: Off-topic: 6) Off-topic messages that aren't of general interest to the mailing list members, and which may cause widespread disapproval, e.g. talking about some bad experiences you've had with people of certain nationalities - - Please don't do this! Not only will people not want to read your message - it could spark off a huge off-topic argument that will annoy everyone, and will clog up everyone's mailboxes. The mailing list is not here for this - we're here to talk about Monkey, and related topics. Also, if someone starts a "controversial" off-topic discussion, if you want to comment on what they're said, please reply to them personally, not to the mailing list. Sending a reply to the mailing list can trigger off an epic off- topic email discussion that no-one wants to read. Help to take these kinds of discussions _off_ the mailing list by replying to the person(s) concerned directly. Note - ----- If your message bounces from the mailing list server for any of the above reasons, please note that I will edit your message to remove the problemmatic comment (e.g. HTML tags, MIME codes, old headers and footers), and I will approve it and send it on to the mailing list on your behalf, so you don't need to resend it. However, to make my job easier :) - and to ensure that your message goes to the list as soon as possible without delay, please observe the above guidelines. - - anyway, enough of all this "official" stuff, Let's talk about Monkey!!! I know this is a generalisation and probly a racist snipe but my life was nearly ruined by heroin which was never freely available on the street in Melbourne until the Vietnamese came to this country First, Toshiyuki is Japanese, not Vietnamese. There is actually a difference you know, that's like saying "I hate Australia, because Nixon sucked". Secondly, its your own stupid fault you took heroine, and your "asian crimes introduced heroine into our country" reeks of a racist beat-up to me. You sound like you've been listening to Pauline Hanson. >>>>>and then I did some time and the asians in jail are so sneaky as a group that they emplanted a racism toward them. Of course. Asians *wanted* people to be racist towards them. They even surreptiously *planned* it! It all makes so much sense now. >>>>>It isn't just the heroin traffickers either, in this city, unlike say New York, they have not assimilated. What? >>>>>>Melbourne has been degraded in the last 20 years, mailnly because of this. Oh! you mean, they hang about with their own, rather than vegging out with us Aussies? I see.. Well, not only is that a gross steryotype, its also highly irrelevent. I would not call Asian people living anywhere in Australia a "degrading factor". In fact, I've noticed that (steryotype on my part here) Asian people in general have a better work ethic and therefore contribute hugely to our suffering economy. >>>>>However I love Bruce Lee's attitude towards not polluting his body and Monkey Magix is one of my all time favourite this is just an opinio ok : Thats great. I don't have a problem with this. >>>>>>Most asians have no God (?) so for them $$$ === status == ??? Whoa there!! So do many white Australians not believe in God. I find people who dislike others on account of belief to be extremely irritating. >>>>>>Obviously more important than fame. One year of his life - - Nishida IS Pigsy and I hink its unforgivable. I hope he enjoyed his 'status' and cash. Prick.... I'm afraid Nashida is entitled to do whatever the f*ck he likes with his life. He's not there soley for your entertainment. Hi Monkey fans everywhere! I'm sure that the first volume of the Monkey DVD will sell loads of copies. I'd like to see limited edition postcards with the DVDs. I'd also like to see some interviews as a possible extra on the DVDs. That would be cool. What did others think? My Monkey! web site: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153 has received more hits today that it ever has in a single day before! So far today, it's received 327 hits - and at least 20 people are visiting every hour at the moment. I've checked the referral logs, which shows the URLs of web pages linking to my site that have "referred" people to it. However, the majority of people visiting my site have _not_ been referred from another web page... and they're mostly in the UK. So I'm wondering - has my Monkey! web site appeared in a national newspaper / magazine today? (e.g. web site reviews in the Guardian's G2 supplement) If anyone in the UK has spotted my web site in a national newspaper magazine, or whatever, please let me know!
