I guess you mean switch between English and Japanese? Nice idea - however, as Dinny pointed out, the editing of the episodes may be different, so it may not quite work. About commentaries - Fabulous Films thought about this, but ruled it out fairly early on - as they guessed the directors of Monkey only speak Japanese... I wonder if a commentary with subtitles would work though? Hmmm... Here's a list of some of the Monkey directors (from Martin Day's excellent Monkey page: http://www.martinday.co.uk/monkey.htm): Yusuke Watanabe Jun Fukuda Daisuke Yamazaki Does anyone know what any of these directors are up to now? It would be *great* to have one of these give (English-subtitled) commentary, if only for 1 episode! Thanks for mentioning this, Tim :) Howell _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp - -------------------------------------------------------------------- + List guidelines: http://www.geocities.com/saiyuuki/guidelines.html + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? Anyone?? They certainly are - see this page on my site for more info: http://www.geocities.com/saiyuuki/events_monkeyxmaslondon.html Also, this page on the Young Vic web site shows some photos from the show: http://www.youngvic.org/monkey1.html The show runs from 22 November 2001 till 19 January 2002. Has anyone seen a review of it yet? (either online, or in a London magazine - e.g. Time Out - or newspaper) I'm definitely interested in going to see this - either: 1) Next Saturday (8 December '01) - I'll be in London, but I need to see what my friends are up to that night or 2) Sometime in January '02 Will let you know - if anyone else would like to come along and meet up before the show, it'd be nice to put a face to a name :) Howell _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp - -------------------------------------------------------------------- + List guidelines: http://www.geocities.com/saiyuuki/guidelines.html + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? No, I don't believe this David Weir interview from the Radio Times has ever been scanned in - if you could scan it in, or even send me a photocopy of it, I could put it online for everyone to enjoy Thanks, Martin! :) >PS. I've searched my Monkey! site, and in Nikki White's excellent "Monkey Multiverse Article" (for anyone who hasn't read it, you _must_ - it's a really long indepth article all about Monkey, the actors, undubbed episodes etc.): http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153/multiversearticle.html On this page, it says: "David Weir prepared versions for all 26 episodes of the first season but only 13 of the second season. The episodes were trimmed from 54 minutes to 40 minutes" I have the original Japanese versions of all the Monkey episodes - I'll check on this if you like. I'll pick out a few episodes, and see if they are 54 minutes instead of 40 minutes. If they are longer, I'll definitely mention this to Fabulous Films. Thanks for reminding me about this, Dinny! :) Howell _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp - -------------------------------------------------------------------- + List guidelines: http://www.geocities.com/saiyuuki/guidelines.html + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? I doubt there'll ever be US versions of the Monkey DVDs or videos - as this particular adaptation of the Monkey story is virtually unknown in the USA. However, when Fabulous Films release the UK Monkey DVDs next year (as opposed to the Australian Monkey DVDs which are the only ones available at the moment), hopefully they'll be region-compatible with the UK (region 2), Australia (region 4) and the US (region 1) - I'm trying to get Fabulous Films to do them like this so that fans almost anywhere will be able to watch them. The only issue is that the DVDs would be PAL, region 1 compatible - so you'd need to have a TV that will accept PAL as well as NTSC - or else watch them on your PC! :) About video clips - I'm not aware of anywhere where you can download complete Monkey episodes, but there are several places where you can download Monkey clips: 1) http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153/movies.html (there's some to download from this page - but also check out the Links section at the bottom for other pages with Monkey video clips) 2) http://www.monkeyzone.net/multimedia2.htm (there's some excellent original Monkey video clips here - check them out if you've not already done so!) You can view them on this page on my site: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153/events_hungwellmonks.html It looks very, very true to the series! (as opposed to the Young Vic theatre production in London which looks more "traditional" to the original Monkey books) I wish I'd been able to see this show - hope it comes out on video to buy!
