A TV series based on Sun Wukong. Up until this point I had not heard of it. I first ran across the character in a video we purchased for our first daughter. It is a Sesame Street (US kids show) video called "Big Bird in China" and features the Monkey King helping Big Bird and a small girl to see various sites in China. I was immediately intrigued by the character and started collecting what I could informally. Here in the US we have a kids show called "Wishbone" about a small dog that daydreams about being in various literary classics. There is an episode where he daydreams that he is Monkey. I have a (NTSC) recording of it. You can purchase a VCD of various parts of the Chinese animated films of Monkey at http://www.chinasprout.com/VCD/vcd.html Tell Xiaoning I referred you if you order from her. There are a number of book length comics with stills from the animated films available. I have purchased these at Chinese book stores. They do come in English. When I was in Nanning this past July, I visited a "tourist attraction" that had a couple of scenes with Monkey. The guys that led me around smiled when I pointed to Monkey and told them "Sun Wukong!". I took (again NTSC sorry) video of the entire attraction. I have read Monkey (English translation by Arthur Waley) and , although the book is fantastic , I feel the series is unbeatable entertainment.
