Scarecrow was looking for a brain and (depending on which version you read), he already had that before he left his field. Monkey was looking for humanity (I think - feel free to correct me on this) and really, he had human characteristics before he was freed from the mountain (he understood the human concept of fun and anger, didn't he? Aren't they human characteristics?) Oh, another link between the two. TWoO novel had the main characters having many adventures on their way to the Emerald City, as did Monkey on their way to India. And unlike the movie, the Wicked Witch of the West only featured in the bit where they were asked to kill her - she wasn't terrorising them on their journey in the beggining. Also, at the end the Wizard turned out to be a fraud. So did Buddah in "The End of the Way" The Wizard in the movie was also represented as a giant talking head ;-) The mortal of the groups (Dorothy and Tripitaka) can both be assumed to be a woman I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them. I'll have to read the book again. Or at least, watch the video. Oh no, wait. No one's mentioned the obvious Flying Monkey(s)... Aren't they human characteristics?) I always got the impression that Buddah wanted Monkey to find humanity. Monkey was always just happy to eat, fight and be merry. He was low on karma though, he did things because he felt like it not due to honor or belief. > Oh no, wait.
