While looking for the URLs, I found that by far the best video store in the UK to buy videos from is Black Star: Black Star http://www.blackstar.co.uk/ Black Star ships FREE to anywhere in the world (within 24 hours, by first-class post in the UK, by airmail worldwide). So if you're ordering from Australia, UK, wherever, all you pay is the £12.99 cost of the video. So I strongly recommend using Black Star: http://www.blackstar.co.uk/ Also, Black Star gives highly detailed information about each video tape. I've just searched for "Water Margin" at their site, and they give full details for each Water Margin tape, including episode descriptions, catalogue numbers and images of the video box. Just for your information, here's some other URLs (although I wouldn't recommend them, as they all charge for shipping): HMV Online http://www.hmv.co.uk/ Virgin I can't find a UK-based online store, just the global one - which won't have Monkey in stock. Video Paradise http://www.videoparadise.com/ Howell > Does anyone have the URLs for these sites ? > > Allan > > > > * From an online video store, e.g. HMV Online, Virgin ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - --------------------------------------------------------------- + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? I have dealt with Black Star and have found them to be speedy and give an excellent service. There is also no quibbles if you need to return faulty tapes etc..You can register yourself as a user and also enter information into their web pages so you can be notified when a new film is released by your favourite actor etc..so you are always kept updates Videoparadise is part of WH Smith and while they do give a good service they do tend to take rather a long time sending out orders. I have waited over a month for some orders. Yalplay http://www.yalplay.com is an excellent company to deal with and Entertainment Express (in UK can send tape within 24 hours if in stock) www.entexpress.com (postage free) Hope this info helps Dawn Howell Parry wrote: > While looking for the URLs, I found that by far the best video store in the > UK to buy videos from is Black Star: > Black Star > http://www.blackstar.co.uk/ > - --------------------------------------------------------------- + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? Look at this page for details on their Video Conversion service (they don't give any prices): http://www.blackstar.co.uk/help/help_conversion Also, for your reference, this page lists all the countries of the world, and tells you which video format they support: http://www.blackstar.co.uk/help/help_formats Howell ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - --------------------------------------------------------------- + To unsubscribe, send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with 'unsubscribe monkey' in the body of your message + Need help? If you live in the USA or Canada, you could use this service to get Monkey videos in NTSC format, but to be honest, you'll probably find a cheaper service in your own country. It might be worth just ordering the PAL videos from Black Star (with free airmail shipping), and finding somewhere cheaper to convert. Here's a very cheap conversion service in the USA: http://www.videoconversion.com/ They charge just $9.99 per tape of up to 3 hours! It's great news to see that after so long campaigning, we are going to get our wishes and see the videos of the sacred series being issued, and credit must go down to everyone who kept the faith and just waited so patiently (yaay us all!) Well done from me :-) > 1) There will be 13 videos released in total, each > containing 3 episodes, and costing £12.99 each. The > first 2 videos will be released in April 2000, and > they'll then release 1 video every month. Three episodes per vid is pretty good value really, that's around 2 hours' worth per video. Consider that compared to the measly 2 episodes (30 mins) you get with the video issues of South Park for the same price, and you will see that it's quality. Also, by spreading the video release dates it means that you don't have to spend around £200 getting them all as they come out, you can just get them as they are released, which is much easier for us all. Now of course, I would like to think that Fabulous Films will do them in strict episode order (so we can all see Monkey weeing on the Buddha's hand in video 1, right?) that's what it sounds like to me. > 4) Also, on the back of each video box, there'll be a synopsis > of each Monkey episode. I've volunteered to write these 39 > episode synopses, and in return, my name will be credited on > each video box. I am sure you will love to do Outrageous Coincidences! Be sure to mention Tripitaka dancing to "Monkey Magic" (he says grinning), I think the synopses will be better done by a fan as they will generally understand the plot more. Or maybe people on this list could write their favourite ones up into say 50-60 word summaries for the videos? > 5) Merchandising. > * 4 t-shirts, 1 of each of the main characters, available in > limited quantities and orderable from an order form which will > appear in each video box Imagine NTV saying "I forbid you!" The T-shirts seem a good idea to me, and no doubt they'd need to be of the characters in various poses from the show. Maybe Pigsy doing his token flirting, Sandy with muck-rake, and of course Tripitaka in headache sutra mode. > 7) My web site URL will appear on each Monkey videotape label!!! Nice, very nice. I wonder if maybe Soko's single release may yet go ahead also, cos they could also promote that on the video? > 8) There won't be any way of preordering the videos from Fabulous > Films directly - he suggests preordering them from a high > street retailer like HMV or Virgin. For overseas (mainly Aussie) fans: HMV btw have relaunched their mail ordering: see http://www.hmv.co.uk/ I would recommend heartily though Black Star, they are a huge mail order video outlet in the UK, and they ship world wide: http://www.blackstar.co.uk/ I bet they would be able to do pre-orders, or take the orders on release for you as well. The nice people. > 11) Famous Monkey fans in the UK include: > * Johnny Vaughan - so it's guaranteed that he'll do a "Monkey week" I bet that would be good - I nominate Nikki to be interviewed by Johnny and so she can tell everyone on UK TV how she met Masaaki Sakai, surely that qualifies her (and you too Howell) for über-fan, yes? Oh Nikki, that reminds me, are you still after a copy of Loaded? > * Chris Evans and Danny Baker - so this guarantees coverage on > "TFI Friday" and Virgin Radio (I think Chris Evans still does this) Hmm.. shame Chris Evans personality wise is such an imbecile. He'd probably do something though (but how dare he use a soft toy Bagpuss as a football?) > 15) And here's the really big plan.... brace yourself for this one: > They're going to contact Masaaki Sakai's agent in Tokyo, and see > if they can get him to do a public appearance at Forbidden Planet > in London, signing autographs etc. Could be the scene of a Monkey convention or something, now _that_ would be interesting, definitely!
