Warren taped it when it was played on Key 103 (a local radio station here in Manchester), and played it to me last night. I was really impressed. It is "Monkey Magic" for the 90s; it's kept the feel of the original, it's funkier and they've done a good job of it; it's got the "Monkey" scream, all the background "tweaky sounds" etc. It starts with a narrator saying "In the time before Monkey...", and then gets going into the song. You'll love it, and I reckon it could be a big hit! There are 2 versions of the mailing list: Normal - you receive every single individual message that's sent to the list, as it's sent. Digest - you receive just 1 message at the same time each day, containing a "digest" of all the messages that were sent over the previous day. For those of you who don't like having lots of individual messages "cluttering" up your mailbox, you may prefer the Digest version of the list. You get less email in this version, and you can still post messages to the list. The messages received by members of the Normal and Digest versions of the list are the SAME, it's just that you receive them at a different time, and in a different format (either individually immediately as they're sent, or daily as part of a digest). Both versions of the list will continue, so you can remain on the version you're currently on if you like, but if you'd like to change over from one to the other, here's what you do: Change from the Normal version to the Digest version - ---------------------------------------------------- Send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org In the body of your message, put: unsubscribe monkey subscribe monkey-digest Change from the Digest version to the Normal version - ---------------------------------------------------- Send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org In the body of your message, put: unsubscribe monkey-digest subscribe monkey Leave the Normal version (i.e. leave the mailing list completely) - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org In the body of your message, put: unsubscribe monkey Leave the Digest version (i.e. leave the mailing list completely) - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Send an email to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org In the body of your message, put: unsubscribe monkey-digest Finally, to send a message to the list - --------------------------------------- Send an email to: monkey@valinor.eldar.org If you have any questions or problems with trying to do any of this, email me, and I'll help you out. Howell - ---------- From: Howell Parry To: VLC@bbc.co.uk Subject: BBC to re-acquire "Monkey" broadcasting rights? Date: 02 June 1998 03:10 Hi, for a number of years now, the Japanese tv show "Monkey" has been shown on the satellite / cable tv channel Bravo. Many years ago, it was shown on BBC2. I know a vast number of people in the UK who would love to see the BBC rerun Monkey, since for a long time it has only been shown on cable / satellite tv, which unfortunately excludes most of the UK population from seeing it... Obviously, Bravo currently holds the broadcasting rights to show "Monkey", but when these rights are next "up for grabs", I guess it would be possible for the BBC to re-acquire them, and rerun Monkey? "Monkey" is going to get a bit of a revival this year with the release of 2 singles which are based on the "Monkey Magic" theme tune. The first one is done by an Australian guy called Sasha and should be out in the next few months, and the other is done by a guy in Manchester, and should be out towards the end of the Summer. Would the BBC consider bidding to get the broadcasting rights to show Monkey again? Have you got any ideas on who I should contact in an attempt to persuade the BBC to go ahead with this? Would some kind of petition directed towards someone (who?) at the BBC help to convince the BBC to show this classic tv show again? Thanks in advance for your help, Howell - --- And here's the response from the BBC: >Thank you for your comments and for your suggestion that the BBC >purchases the rights to broadcast the above series. I will pass your >views on to those responsible for purchasing programmes. >Regards >Viewer & Listener Correspondence ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 04 Jun 1998 02:08:45 +1000 From: Adrian Bancilhon Subject: [monkey] Chat Hi all.
