I just thought of a great idea for us UK fans to get it back on TV... The BBC has a section on their Teletext pages called 'Chatterbox' which has comments on TV programmes by viewers (it's page 592). You can email the comments to them if you wish. Now, guess what I thought? Seeing as we all have email access, we should take it in turns to email them and say how classic Monkey is and how much we'd like to see it back on TV again (or just similar words to that effect would do) Then if our comments get on TV more people will remember it! The email address is Chatterbox I've just mailed them now, so Howell, Nikki, Anni and all the others, let's do it in turns periodically and pressure like mad! Cheers Warren. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Jun 1998 23:10:36 +0100 From: Warren Pilkington Subject: [monkey] Monkey Magic Single Hello one and all, Seeing as there has been a few questions littered around about the forthcoming UK single, I thought I'd try and answer them all: 1) I do not know as yet if a video is planned to go with the single.. I agree it would be rather good if there was classic Monkey footage to go with the song in the background. Remember though that often dance music people do not make them! In any case, I will try and find out. (I'm sure Howell and me can stage mock Monkey fights with broom handles as our weapons if need be) 2) The release date details are pretty sketchy. With the cover of 'Kung Fu Fighting' still doing well in the charts, it would be commercial suicide if this was released too early. August or September would be the earliest that I think it would happen. 3) The other important thing to note is that I'm currently negotiating with Howell how we can best hype the single on the webpage. That work hopefully both ways, in that the web address could be put on the single cover (something I aim to work on). My link with the people involved is only tenuous because I recorded them the single from my fabled kids' graffitied 7" that I have - but if I find out anything I will let you know here first - do not worry. Also, we should bear in mind that the Australian single is going to be released soon - Sasha, if you are reading this, could you post to the list full ordering details so that us UK fans can get hold of it? After all, if there is going to be two pretty cool singles based on Monkey and heard in territories pretty far afield, this can only give the show more publicity.. damn, I wanna see them on video!
