David Weir was the guy who wrote the English adaptation, allegedly quite loosely based on the original Japanese version. Apparently, the main people involved in dubbing Monkey were: Monkey - David Collings Pigsy - Peter Woodthorpe Tripitaka - Miriam Margolyes I find it amazing that it's Miriam Margolyes dubbing Tripitaka, as she doesn't sound anything like her! I guess she's obviously very versatile.. You can find out info about all 3 of these people on the Internet Movie Database, so you can see which other tv shows / films they've been in: David Collings: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Collings,+David Peter Woodthorpe: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Woodthorpe,+Peter Miriam Margolyes: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Margolyes,+Miriam I'm not sure the BBC would be able to help with this, as they didn't do the dubbing. It was a company in London called World Wide Sound that organised it - maybe this was on behalf of the BBC? I suppose it would interesting to get an interview with any of these people, if anything so we can find out who did the other voices - any other well-known celebrities. (Who did Sandy's dubbing?) Apparently, it was roughly the same cast who dubbed The Water Margin, which was on tv at around the same time. Any idea how I'd go about getting in touch with any of these people?
