Well assuming that the show stuck to the book, which they probably did, the inscription should read "Golden Clasped Wishing Staff. Weight, thirteen thousand five hundred pounds". The staff of course was obtained from the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea and originally used to pound the Magic Way into shape. It was handed over to Monkey after he went in search of an appropiate weapon - and which had apparently been glowing for several days before his arrival, an omen indeed. Following on from the dubbing thread, are we sure who it was who did the voice of Monkey, 'cause if this is the chap who played Poole in the Robots of Death "Dr Who) there is an amazing difference in the quality of voices. Anyway, interesting to know and I think they deserve some better acknowledgement as I think they were admirably suited and contributed a lot to the feel of the series. I wonder what it sounds like in the original Japanese ? My parents have also just signed up for a month trial of Foxtel, so I will be getting my spare videos handy to do some taping too ! Howell I think went looking for it with no luck, but I just logged on to Amazon.com (fantastic online book store) and found this which I belive is the same title - I was given two alternative published titles - goes wild in / creates hazoc in. Monkey Creates Havoc in Heaven Pen Cai Ying / Published 1989 (Hard to Find) It is currently out of print, but they will try to find a copy which may take 2 - 6 months. I have placed an order for it - so if it comes in I'll let you all know.
