I bet it's not been done before. Just imagine all the "attractions", "monkiees" (real big fans, like Trekkies for Star Trek) dressed as their favourite characters, original props auctioned off, stars of the show to sign autographs, big screen viewings of some of the best episodes, quizzes & competitions, stick-fighting demonstrations, pink candy-floss being sold as "Monkey's Cloud"....... ...But that's a long way off, I guess (or have I gone too far?) - -- Henry Burrows -+- Home Email: henry@hideaway.demon.co.uk MarkCare Medical Systems Ltd -+- Work Email: henry@smimed.co.uk Life is like a simile. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 1997 04:52:59 PDT From: "Howell Parry" Subject: [monkey] The Internet Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction TV Yellow Pages Hey everyone, Check out this site: The Internet Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction TV Yellow Pages http://users.aol.com/svandensen/main.htm It has links to pages about lots of cool TV shows, e.g. The Prisoner, Lost In Space, Twilight Zone, and now features a section about Monkey, after I emailed the guy last week. It appears that Monkey isn't well known all around the world; it seems to be only Asia, Australia and the UK that know it. Last week, I searched lots of cult TV websites, websites containing TV themes, those containing episode guides, and I didn't see a single reference to Monkey! Well, that's going to change!!! Expect to see references to Monkey popping up all over the place shortly... :) Howell ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 1997 15:27:16 +0000 From: "Chubbybunny" <9544602@EIGG.SMS.ED.AC.UK> Subject: Re: [monkey] Monkey Magic - The C64 Computer Game In my experience, the best Commodore 64 emulator is the PC64 and it can be found at http://linux.rz.fh-hannover.de/~boose/pc64_d.html - the english version. I just came across this page: http://main.emap.com/media/PFINDER/PFP60231.HTM It looks like it's describing a 52 episode cartoon series all about Monkey, and it was made in the USA!!! Does anyone on the list know anything about this? It's certainly news to me! Unfortunately, it definitely will NOT be released on video this year. The Japanese producers of "Monkey" are ready to do the deal, but there are complications involving royalties which mean the deal cannot go ahead. A significant amount of negotiation still needs to be done; this video distribution company are in constant contact with the Japanese producers, but alas things have come to an "impass", and a deal cannot be done this year. So, I won't be contacting them again until 1998, as there will be no news until then. :( :( :( Howell ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 1997 10:19:16 PDT From: "Howell Parry" Subject: [monkey] BBC are not going to repeat Monkey... Out of sheer desperation to see the whole Monkey series again, I just phoned the BBC, and asked them to repeat it! I spoke to their Viewer and Listener Correspondence department, who told me that, since they have not shown Monkey for many years (17 in fact!), they have obviously lost the rights to the show, and would have to wait for the rights to become available again (up for sale) to regain them. In addition to this, they added that it is usually extremely expensive to re-purchase rights that you have lost. So, it is not at all likely the BBC will ever repeat Monkey. Somebody give me some good news...please. Is there anyone in the UK who has the whole series on video, and would consider lending me it (yes, the whole series)?
