Also, what does the writing on the Buddha Seal mean, that's put on the rock that Monkey is under in episode 1? If they completed the journey it would be like banishing evil from the world forever (ie completely impossible). The point is that it is an impossible task, quite literally and that it is actually the travelling itself that is important. Or something. John .oOo. I don't exactly know whether the purpose of the journey was specifically to banish evil, I just thought it was to retreive the portion of the scriptures they didn't have, giving them a wider understanding of Buddhism & generally making the world a better place - through the understanding. > The point is that it is an impossible task, quite > literally and that it is actually the travelling itself that is > important. The journey does conclude, after about 16 (or was it 18) years. Anyway, if their purpose was to destroy evil, evil would only resurface, maybe in a different form. Without evil, good has nothing to contrast - it becomes meaningless... all this kinda seems to go against the Buddism philosophy right?, where good, evil, blahs are non-existant... I don't know. bye. ------------------------------ End of Monkey Digest V1 #32 *************************** ----------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the Monkey Mailing List digest list, send mail to: majordomo@valinor.eldar.org with the following command in the body of your email message: unsubscribe monkey-digest To send a message to the list, send mail to: monkey-digest@valinor.eldar.org If you have any problems or questions, send mail to: owner-monkey@valinor.eldar.org For lots more information and news about "Monkey", check out the Monkey! web site: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153/
