Hi everyone! Thanks to l jones (ljones@lineone.net), there's now lots more Monkey pictures and sounds on my Monkey! web site: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153/ [See the Monkey Pictures and Monkey Sounds pages] All these little sound clips combined with the pictures can be used (for Windows 95 users) to create a Monkey Themed desktop! This is what L Jones says: ************************** "Monkey" Themed Windows 95 Desktop WAV and BMP Files By L Jones / ljones@lineone.net Version 1.0 , June 1997 - ---------------------------------------------------------------- With apologies for the low quality of images and sound files.... - ---------------------------------------------------------------- What you need to use these files - -------------------------------- Windows 95 or a picture viewer/.WAV file player 16-bit Sound Card (pretty much standard these days..) Graphics card which can display 640x480x256 Colours (SVGA, again most modern PCs can handle this..) The files - --------- The pictures and sounds may be downloaded from the Monkey Pictures and Monkey Sounds pages on the Monkey! web site http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153 A Brief word - ------------ Firstly, these files are not at such a high quality as they could be. The quality had to be reduced so the files fit on a disk! The pictures, which are all 640x480 may require stretching if your desktop is larger than 640x480 with a paint package (e.g. Paint shop Pro). The pictures aren't all that great - they've been grabbed from videotape. You can certianly see that PCs were never designed with video in mind, unlike the Amiga! Some quality was lost because my PC is on one side of the room and the video on the other - and I had to use a very long cable to connect the two, so the signal strength from the video got reduced. Again you may be able to improve the pictures with processing in a paint package like paint shop pro. To use these files in Win95, select "Control Panel" from the start menu. Then use "Sounds" to attach the sounds or "Desktop" to use the .BMP (picture) files. And if you want to, you might even like to export these files to an Amiga or even a Mac or Acorn Archamidies - but don't forget to convert the files first! Other file(s) on offer - -------------------- Currently I've attempted (and sucseeded) in grabbing the *entire* opening sequence as one .AVI. That's the good news. The bad news is that it comes in at a godzilla-sized +50MBytes - the same size as a small hard drive. Currently I'm looking at ways to reduce the file size by converting .AVIs to .MPGs. Also the first attempt suffered from odd looking coloured stripes over the picture, however I now may have a way of reducing this (by switching down to 640x480 256 colours, rather than 1024x760x16M). When the file is finally ready an email will be placed on the mailing list. But it's likely that the size of the file (unless it's *really* cut down) will still be big, like 5 or 6 MBytes big(?).In that case I can copy it but only on either * IOMega tape 250 (QIC-80) format tapes OR * IOMega ZIP 100 drive (sorry to sound like a salesman, but the IOmega zipdrive is really use- ful! - go and get one!) Unfortunatly I'm unable to capture very many other files from monkey as I only have a recording of the first episode. So all the samples, etc come from the 1st episode! That's All! I seem to remember reading somewhere that Zoltar was originally meant to be a hermaphrodyte. There was one episode where Mark got a good look at him, and was surprised by what he saw. Getting back on topic though..I seem to vague > memories of an anime version of monkey (or at least a cartoon version). > Does anybody else know about this (if it's good, where to get it etc..)? I agree, Astroboy was my favourite too (I can't wait for the video release later this week) I enjoyed Voltron (both versions), Star Blazers, Kimba as a child. I don't remember a cartoon version of monkey, though. The only monkey cartoon I know of is that Space Monkey one. Others I remember are Ulyses and the City of Gold where they were travelling under the earth to find a lost city. Sometimes I really wish they'd bring them back. Those shows (and He-Man!) were the foundation of my childhood! ( that and Myah the Bee which I can barely remember) Arwen - -- Ivanova: "Having delusions of grandeur again?"
