But I also *really love* the ending of the episode...it's got Tripitaka praying in a village that's just been burnt down and robbed, Monkey stuck under a rock saying "let me out", Pigsy wandering through fields in the rain and Sandy in the water.... It's all very dramatic, and just left me wanting MORE! I'm sure it's whetted the appetites of lots of Monkey fans in the UK - - a guy I work with saw it last week for the 1st time in 17 years, and now he's eager to see the rest of the episodes, buy all the videos even. When I first saw it again last year, I just sat there mesmorised & grinning the whole time. The greatest thing about "Monkey" is that, unlike some shows you enjoy as a child, which turn out to be complete rubbish when you're older, Monkey is as good as I remembered it, or perhaps *even better*, as I can appreciate a lot more of the subtle humour (self-parody etc.) now. I agree - the kids of today are really missing out!!! They have to watch stuff like Power Rangers instead; Monkey is in a completely different league to any of today's kids programmes. The music made the whole thing for me. Singing along to all my favourite bits and waiting for the funky fight music to come on :) Another bit I liked was Tathagata Buddha saying to Monkey... "Come to the Himalaya's Monkey!" and he turns up and she's sitting there HUGE - above the clouds! That is so cool. Of course, she is really not meant to be Tahagata, but the Bodhisatsva Kuan Yin... Thats kind of fun too, seeing the difference with the book. My name is Arwen Gunter and I am new to this list. It was a great surprise to find such a list existed, but I'm glad it does because I love Monkey. Unfortuantely, it's been so long since I saw it that I have only the vaguest memories of it. This, btw, brings me to a query: is there anyone on this list living in Australia who has the episodes and would be willing to copy at least a few of them for me. As it seems unlikely that they will repeat it here I will have to try other channels. Anyway, I am 19 and live in Perth, Western Australia. I have loved the show monkey as long as I can remember. Back when they last showed, every kid in our street loved it and would disappear into each other's homes to watch it when it came on. The good ol' days...:) I'm glad to now be a part of such a group Arwen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 May 1997 09:24:33 PDT From: "Howell Parry" Subject: Re: [monkey] Episode guide >I just joined the list, and I've noticed people referring to an episode >guide. Currently, you can find Matt Sephton's episode list: http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~u5ms/monkey/episodes.htm He's looking for people to help him write a synopsis of each episode (no more than a few lines) to put on here Also, I've just created a Monkey Summaries page: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/8153/summaries.html where I'm looking for people to contribute longer summaries of each episode - there's currently just 1 there, have a read of it to get an idea of what I mean.
